Privacy Policy

Match Maid ("we", "us") runs matchmaid.co.nz, a directory that connects households with independent cleaners in New Zealand. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what choices you have. We follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
Who we are
Match Maid is based in Christchurch, New Zealand. For any privacy question or request, email [email protected].
Information we collect
- Account details — your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and the fact that Google has verified it; we never see your Google password.
- Cleaner profiles — for cleaners: your business name, bio, the city and suburb you're based in, service areas, hourly and flat fees, years of experience, and any verification documents you upload (ID, criminal check, insurance) so we can award trust badges.
- Customer profiles — for households: contact details and the home details you choose to add (suburb, bedrooms, pets, access notes).
- Messages and enquiries you send through the platform.
- Basic technical data your browser sends when you use the site (such as your IP address), used to keep the service secure and working.
How we use it
- To create and run your account and profile.
- To match households with cleaners and let you message each other.
- To send service emails — for example a confirmation code when you sign up, or a notification to a cleaner when they receive a new enquiry.
- To review verification documents and display trust badges.
- To keep the platform safe and to prevent misuse.
Sharing
We don't sell your personal information. Parts of a cleaner's profile (business name, area, rates, badges, reviews) are shown publicly so households can choose a cleaner — this is the purpose of the directory. Your email and password are never shown publicly. We use a small number of trusted providers to run the service:
- Neon — database hosting.
- Render — application hosting.
- Google — optional "Sign in with Google".
- Resend — sending transactional emails.
These providers only process data on our behalf to deliver the service. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Payments
Match Maid is a directory only. Payment for cleaning is arranged directly between the household and the cleaner; we don't process those payments and don't collect your card details.
Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you remove your profile, we retain the minimum needed for records already shared with the other party (such as past enquiries and reviews). You can ask us to delete your account data by emailing us.
Your rights
You can access or correct your information at any time from your profile, or by emailing us. You may ask us to delete your account. If you signed in with Google, you can also revoke Match Maid's access from your Google account settings.
Changes
We may update this policy as the service grows. We'll change the "last updated" date above when we do.
