Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of matchmaid.co.nz (the "Service"), run by Match Maid ("we", "us"), based in Christchurch, New Zealand. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

In short: Match Maid is a marketplace only. We introduce households to independent cleaners — that's it. We don't employ cleaners, handle payments, or take any part in the clean itself. Anything that happens between you and the other person — including no-shows, cancellations, quality issues or payment disputes — is strictly between the two of you, and we are not liable for it.

1. What Match Maid is

Match Maid is a marketplace and directory only. We connect households looking for cleaning with independent cleaners, and that is the whole of our role. We are not a cleaning company, an employer of cleaners, or a party to any agreement made between a household and a cleaner. We don't take bookings, don't handle or process payments, and take no part in the clean. Cleaners are independent operators who set their own rates, decide which jobs to take, and provide their services on their own account.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement to use the Service. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date — this matters especially for cleaners, whose identity and verification details are relied on by households.

3. Accounts

You're responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. We may confirm your email address before your account is active.

4. Cleaners

You set your own rates and services, shown openly on your profile.
While we build out our network, listing is free; after that a flat monthly fee applies as described on the site. We never take a commission on your jobs.
Verification badges (ID, criminal check, insurance) are earned by submitting documents we review. Don't misrepresent your identity, experience or qualifications.
Any guarantee you advertise (for example a bond-back guarantee) is an agreement between you and your customer, not with Match Maid.
Respond to enquiries promptly. Persistently unresponsive listings may be ranked lower or paused.

5. Households

Browsing and contacting cleaners is free. You choose who to engage and agree the details directly with them. Please carry out your own due diligence before letting anyone into your home.

6. Payments

Payment for cleaning is arranged and made directly between the household and the cleaner. Match Maid does not process these payments, hold funds, or collect card details for cleaning services.

7. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to break the law, harass anyone, post false or misleading information, scrape or misuse others' data, or attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the Service. We may suspend or remove accounts that breach these terms.

8. No-shows, cancellations & disputes

Any issue with a clean — a no-show, a late or missed appointment, a cancellation, quality, timing, damage, payment or anything else — is between the household and the cleaner. We are a marketplace and are not responsible for the acts or omissions of any user, and we do not accept liability for no-shows, cancellations, cleaning issues or disputes. We may, at our discretion, help facilitate communication, but we are under no obligation to resolve, mediate, or compensate for any dispute.

9. Disclaimer & liability

The Service is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties and are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the Service or from any interaction or transaction with another user. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Removing your account

You can remove your profile at any time. Some records already shared with the other party (such as past enquiries and reviews) may be retained as described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes

We may update these terms as the Service grows. We'll change the "last updated" date above; continuing to use the Service means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction.
